Fraud revealed in VBook and Pakistan Single Window System




KARACHI: Pakistan Customs Appraisal West Karachi has revealed fraud in VBook and Pakistan Single Window System.


Sources told that there have been fears of money being transferred abroad without proper records by defrauding the two automated systems.


According to officials, importers had filed goods declarations with the Customs Department for clearance of their consignments in open account mode without bank permission. Which was informed to the Directorate of Customs Reforms and Automation.


On the information received, the VBook and Pakistan Single Window System teams conducted a detailed scrutiny of the data of the importers who obtained clearance through Open Account and it was revealed that some importers and Customs Clearing Agents on behalf of the State Bank The Foreign Exchange Manual has been violated.


The customs authorities have registered a case against 10 importers involved in the fraud and a case has also been registered against 4 customs clearing agents involved in the fraud.


Sources said that the customs officials have arrested 3 people involved in the fraud while the rest of the people have given bail before arrest. , M/s Al Barka Steel, M/s Haroon Brothers Steel, M/s Waqas Steel, M/s Cinco Steel and others.
