The richest cricket board in the world has not paid the electricity bill of the stadium since 2009

The richest cricket board in the world has not paid the electricity bill of the stadium since 2009. Temporary connections limited, floodlights to be powered by generators ahead of international match.

Before the match between India and Australia, it has been revealed that the Raipur stadium management has not paid the electricity bill since 2009.

According to Indian media reports, the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) has not paid the electricity bill of Rs 3.16 crore for the Raipur stadium due to which the electricity connection in the stadium was cut off 5 years ago.

On the request of the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association, the electricity company had installed a temporary connection but this is limited to the spectators' gallery only while the floodlights will need to be powered by generators during the match.

On the other hand, Ashok Khandelwal, in-charge of Raipur Rural Circle, says that the Secretary Cricket Association has applied to increase the capacity of the temporary connection of the stadium.

After the construction of the stadium, its maintenance work was handed over to the construction department while the rest of the expenses were to be borne by the sports department, however both the departments are blaming each other for not paying the electricity bills.

The electricity company sent several notices to the PWD and the sports department for clearance of dues, but no payment has been made yet.
