Cannot prepare infrastructure for World Cup 2024, Dominica Govt

West Indies member country Dominica Republic has announced to withdraw from hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 matches.

According to Cricinfo report, the government of Dominica Republic, a member country of West Indies, says that they cannot prepare the infrastructure in time for the World Cup, therefore they are withdrawing from the mega event.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) had announced 7 venues for the West Indies and 3 for the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024. Dominica was to host one match of the first round and 2 matches of the Super 8 stage.

It should be noted that the Men's T20 World Cup scheduled in America and West Indies will be played at 10 venues from June 4 to 30. For the first time in any ICC event, 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 each, with the top 2 teams from each group qualifying for the Super 8 stage. A total of 55 matches will be played in T20 World Cup 2024.
