Islamabad: It is likely that the size of the budget for the next fiscal year 2024-25 will be set at 16500 billion rupees by the federal government.

The budget of the federal government for the next financial year 2024-25 is expected to be 16500 billion rupees, while the target of fiscal deficit is 9000 billion rupees and the target of tax collections is likely to be set at 11 thousand billion rupees.

Sources in the Ministry of Finance say that Pakistan and the IMF have agreed in principle on the important targets for the next fiscal year 2024-25, but the targets will be finalized on the occasion of budgeting.

Sources say that the second phase of negotiations with the technical team of the IMF in Pakistan is going to start from Monday and the caretaker finance minister Dr. Shamsmad Akhtar will hold a meeting with the IMF team next week after returning from a trip abroad. In which the recommendations of the IMF Technical Team will be reviewed.
